Troubleshooting worksoft Certify with SAP ECATT Integration

Here are some common problems you might encounter with Worksoft Certify's SAP ECATT (Solution Manager) Integration and the solutions for resolving them.

Problem #1:
When I execute a process from Solution Manager, the "Certify Configuration" dialog doesn't appear and Certify immediately starts running the process.

Solution:
When executing Certify from within Solution Manager, you must change the External Tool Execution Mode in the UI Control tab of the Execution screen to "D - Debug mode" in order for the Certify Configuration screen to appear. This puts Certify in "Managed" execution mode. An execution mode of "N - Normal Mode" indicates that Certify should be started without any User Interface. An execution mode of "A - Use the External Tool's UI" displays the Certify UI during the process execution, but runs the process in "Unmanaged" execution mode.

Problem #2:
I created a new Certify process from Solution Manager, but the "Test Script" and "Version" Attributes were not auto-populated in the Certify process.  What happened?

Solution:
These Attributes are not necessary with the Solution Manager integration in Certify 8.5.0. They are still available for backwards compatibility with Certify 8.4.1 Solution Manager integration. You may safely delete these Attributes if you have not used Certify's Solution Manager integration prior to the Certify 8.5.0 upgrade. If you have used Certify's Solution Manager integration with Certify 8.4.1 or older releases, do not delete these Attributes as your older integrated processes will still use these Attributes.

Problem #3:
I created Test Data and assigned it to a Test Configuration in SAP associated with a Wrapper script to kick off the Certify script and pass the data to Certify.  I added the associated variables to an Argument Container in Certify.  Why is the variant not appearing in the process step?

Solution:
You must link the Parameter containing the Variant data from your Test Data Container in Solution Manager to the matching IMPORT parameter you defined in the Certify Argument Container by associating a Parameter in your Test Process Wrapper script to the script's matching IMPORT parameter.  You can then select the appropriate Variants in your  Solution Manager Test Configuration when you execute the Wrapper script.  The selected Variant data will be passed from your Test Data Container, through your Wrapper script, to the IMPORT parameters in the Argument Container, to variables in Certify.
