Trouble shooting installation problem with Vista

If you are experiencing installation problem with Vista, please check the following:

- Does the user who is installing Certify have admin rights to the machine?

- Did the user follow the instructions for installing on Vista in the Certify Enterprise Installation Guide?

- Did the user disable User Account Control?

To install Certify on a machine running the Microsoft Vista operating system, you will need to disable the User Account Control (UAC). To disable the User Account Control, open the Control Panel and type UAC into the Search text field. The Turn User Account Control On and Off link appears. Cancel the Use User Account Control option and click OK. You will need to reboot your computer before any changes will take effect.

- Did the user encounter an error installing the Microsoft .NET Framework pre-requisites?

When installing Certify on Vista, the installer will automatically check that you have both the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 installed.  In some cases, the installer incorrectly indicates that you must install these pre-requisites to continue.  If you encounter a message that says ".NET framework 2.0 sp2 is not installed. Please go to Microsoft site and manually install this." or  ".NET framework 3.0 sp2 is not installed. Please go to Microsoft site and manually install this.", you have run into this issue. This problem arises because  the installer cannot find the registry value that it needs to confirm the pre-requisite .NET Framework is installed.

To get around this issue you will need to manually edit the Windows registry using Regedit.  If you are not comfortable doing this, please contact Worksoft Support to assist you.

I.  Workaround for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 not installed

1.  Run regedit.

2.  Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v2.0.50727\Version

3.  Copy the original value and save it in a Notepad text document.

4. Change the value to 2.2.50727

II.  Workaround for .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 not installed

1.  Run regedit.

2.  Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v3.0\Setup\Version

3.  Copy the original value and save it in a Notepad text document.

4. Change the value to 3.0.30618.00

After changing the appropriate registry entries, do the following:

1.  Run CertifySetup.exe

2.  After Certify has installed successfully, change the value(s) in the registry back to their original value(s).
