Issue: In Certify Data, it doesn't show any "SAP
Systems" in the SAP System dropdown in the data picker; OR it doesn't show all of the "SAP Systems"
in the SAP System dropdown that I expect
There may be a few factors that affect this. In order to cover all our bases, we should
follow a few steps to identify the cause of the problem
1.
On the web server where Certify Connect is
installed (where IIS is also hosting Certify Connect), please navigate to the
Worksoft folder where ConfigureConnect.exe is located. It might be in the same folder where Certify
Connect was installed - or it may only be located in the folder where the
installer was located. This is a console
application which means it needs to run inside the Windows program "Command
Prompt".
a.
Please use Windows Explorer to find
ConfigureConnect.exe
b.
Open the ConfigureConnect.exe.config -
configuration file in notepad
c.
Look for the database connection - ensure that
the database information is accurate which should point to the database of
"CertifyConnect". If you want to be
extra, cautious you may want to try logging into SQL Server using that
username/password specified and confirm that the correct permissions are valid
for the Certify Connect database. After
logging in, you can expand "Databases", and you should be able to then expand
the Certify Connect database as well in the tree to see tables and other
information about the database. If you
receive no error upon attempting this, then the connection string and password
should be valid. If you need to correct
the database information, please make the change and then save the
configuration file.
d.
Please start "Command Prompt" or click on
"Start", then "Run", then type "cmd" and press Enter
e.
Type in "C:" follows by enter to navigate to the
c: hard drive
f.
Then in the windows explorer window - where it
shows the folder path at the top - select the entire folder path. And press "Ctrl-C" to copy it - or right
click and choose "Copy"
g.
Then in the "Command Prompt" window, click your left mouse button to set focus to
the window
h.
Type in "CD "
(make sure there is a space after "CD")
i.
Right click and choose "Paste"
j.
It should paste in the complete folder path for
you
k.
Press Enter
l.
It should then show in the prompt the folder
path you chose
m.
Type "ConfigureConnect" and press Enter
n.
This shall provide a list of the valid syntax /
options you can use for this program.
o.
Please type in "ConfigureConnect / sap /list" to
list the SAP systems that are registered within Certify Connect. In order for SAP systems to appear in Certify
Data, they must be registered here. If
this presents an error, it is likely that the database connection string for
configureconnect.exe.config (is invalid) - you will need to correct it to
proceed. If any SAP systems are
registered, then they will be listed.
p.
If you need to add some SAP systems, then please
use the syntax from above (you can scroll up in the "Command Prompt"
window). The type of syntax you can use
to add an SAP system within Certify Connect will be to type a command for each
SAP system in this fashion:
"CertifyConnect /sap /add xxxxx
xxxxx xx etc." (followed by pressing
Enter)
q.
If you don't need to add any SAP Systems
(because they are registered), the next thing we need to check is (on the web
server - where Certify Connect is installed), we need to open Windows Explorer
to look at the log files within c:\logs.
r.
Let's inspect the file MesExchangeService.log
(first). Go to the very bottom. If you see a repeating error message that
refers to "Execute Procedure" not found, then that means that you are missing
some Certify Connect Plugins. It's
possible when Certify Connect was installed, that the required plugins may have
NOT been installed. This can be
rectified, by inspecting the original folders/package for Worksoft Certify Data
and locating a folder "CertifyConnectPlugins".
Please copy the entire contents of that folder into the folder where
Certify Connect is installed. Typically
it is installed in "C:\Program Files\Worksoft\Worksoft Certify Connect
Service.
i.
To be extremely cautious, you may want to
inspect the configuration file for Certify Connect, which should be the file
named: MesWindowsService.exe.config
ii.
Look for
connectionString="Data Source
within the file to see the details for connecting to the Certify Connect
database. Please make sure that these
details are valid/accurate. If not,
please correct them, then save the file
s.
If you are asked to replace any files when
copying the plugin files, you can answer "Skip" or "No" to not
replace/overwrite the files. We only
care about making sure all the plugins are installed
t.
1st
Final Step: We need to restart
the "Certify Connect Service".
Note: Important - whenever you
change a database registration or SAP system registration using
ConfigureConnect.exe - YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO RESTART the Certify Connect
Service
u.
Click "Start",
"Administrative Tools",
"Services"
v.
Scroll to the bottom to find the service named "Worksoft
Certify Connect"
w.
Click "Restart" to restart the service
x.
Then you should be done with the server
side.
2.
Return to the machine where you were running
CertifyData
a.
Please close/shut down Certify
b.
Open up task manager. One quick way to access it is right click on
the system tray and click "Task Manager"
c.
Switch to the "Processes" tab (where it shows
lots of programs running)
d.
Find "DataPicker.exe" in the list (ensure that
it is highlighted). Right click on it
and click "End Process"
e.
Start Certify
f.
You should be back in business
