SAP GUI hangs during execution

To monitor the memory usage of the SAP GUI client during execution, please use the following steps.

First, you must have SAP GUI client running or you will not see SAPGUI.exe as a process instance choice.

The following steps will explain how to use Performance Monitor to determine the amount of memory being used during execution.

  1. Start the analysis process for a report so that runevent.exe will be listed as an available process.
  2. Open Performance Monitor (it can be opened by typing perfmon.exe from the command line).
  3. Under Performance Logs and Alerts, select counter logs.
  4. In the right panel, right-click and select New Log settings.
  5. Assign (type) the name of the new log.
  6. Select add counter.
  7. Select the following:
    • The Certify Client machine (or in case of Citrix, the Citrix server).
    • Performance Object: Process
    • Counter as Private Bytes
    • Instance as SAPGUI.exe
  8. Click Apply to save.
