New SAP GUI client: Certify would not Learn, Livetouch or execute against SAP GUI

For a new installation or upgrade of SAP GUI client, sometimes the new SAP GUI client is no longer recognize by Certify.

Typical systems are SAP learn, Livetouch and Certify execution - no longer interact with the SAP GUI even when all the SAP GUI Client settings are correct. (However, Web Learn can still learn a web page on the Internet explorer).

For example, the SAP GUI might show the error message:

When this happens there are a number of things to try and see if SAP GUI can be changed to work with Certify:

1. Check the following registry (if they exist). Make sure that they are set to "1".

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPGUI LaunchSaplogon = 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPGUI LaunchSaplogon = 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\SAPGUI\StartSaplogon =1

2. Reinstall SAP GUI.

3. If you are using SAP GUI client 640, please upgrade SAP GUI to SAP GUI 710 patch 14 or higher.

If you are using Citrix Xenapp server to host Certify and SAP GUI, please also see the article on Worksoft Certify with Citrix Xenapp configuration.
